Visited Birmingham on a girlie weekend (haven't been to Birmingham in years) on Saturday we had a table booked for dinner, on arrival there was no one to greet us, a waitress rushed over to greet us as we walked in looking around for staff, the place was fairly empty, but I put that down to the fact we went out for dinner early around 8pm (obviously early for this restaurant and bar), we were seated in the VIP area, and provided with drinks and food menus by a waitress who seemed very unhappy to be working or to be serving us. We proceeded to order 4 Pina Coladas, when they arrived I was very disappointed as they were flat, and very milky with no taste of rum, Malibu or vodka at all. We raised this with the waitress who went away and came back with a Straw to taste the drink to then say this is the restaurants recipe, I was taken aback that she felt the need to taste the drink (have never heard of any restaurant staff tasting food or drinks if a customer has raised an issue with it - that was a first). We asked to speak to the manager and he came over and said pretty much the same thing, but took one of the 4 drinks away to do what I don't know, a couple of minutes later the waitress came back and took the other 3 drinks, we were not told if the drinks were being replaced or asked if we wanted something else, the waitress then came back with a terrible attitude asking to take our food order, by this time I had lost all desire to eat and give them my custom, so we decided to leave and the waitresses response was 'ok then', and walked off. As we left I felt the need to speak to the manager again just to let him know that I was sent there to check out the venue to provide feedback to magazines on what the service, food and atmosphere of this restaurant and bar is like, at which point he tells me he was having four more drinks made up for us, however, we were not told that by him as he never came back after taking the first drink away and we were not told that by the waitress when she came back and took the other 3 drinks away, I was very disappointed with the service and lack of communication between the staff and us (the customer), we had to ask what the soup of the day was and all we got back was its Asparagus (no dressing it up as you would get in any London restaurant, regardless of it being just Asparagus), she couldn't explain any of the dishes on the menu, when asked whats in the 'Asian Seafood' dish, the response was pretty much I don't know. She made no effort to make us feel welcome and the Manager didn't do any better. Needless to say you have to leave a star rating on reviews, but if you didn't The Chameleon would get several thumbs down for service, attitude, and very poor management and communication. The look and feel of the place seems to portray high end, but I feel this is not the case, they are very mediocre, and have a lot of improvement to reach the high end of restaurateur and bar arena. If you want mediocre service then this is the place to go, we went on to Club Nuvo, which definitely portrays a high end feel and you are made to feel welcome, we were able to eat and drink and I rated the service at Club Nuvo a 5 star, because of the friendly atmosphere from the moment you walk in the door to the moment you leave.

Who serves a Pina Colada with a slice of Lime - The Chameleon. It's not a Pina Colada without a slice of Pineapple any novice would know that.

Giving this place a one star for the attitude of the security staff on the door. Fair enough one was not wearing a collar shirt and was in the process of getting it sorted, but they decided that none of the VIP party who all were wearing the right dress code were also not allowed in and cancelled the booking. So moral wear the correct type of dress and if the single cell life forms don't like you, you don't get in.

Good for pre theatre food and drinks ...close to most theatres.....busy but the staff look after you especially if they know you are going to the theatre

I've heard this place is full of "WAG" wannabes of a Friday and Saturday, but it was nice enough on a weekday. Very quiet! It actually looks lovely inside but they also have a decent outdoor seating area.
Cocktail was decent not outstanding but it was two for one mid week after work!
